URBANTRAVELLER X TIMBERLAND: behind the scenes
SPRING IS HERE.
And that means a fresh new vibe - a fresh clean house, and a closet revamping. I don't know how you feel about it, but I always get the vibe that I've become a different person over the year, and it's most noticeable during the spring. Inspired to wear different clothing styles and seeking out new inspo, I always feel the need to prep myself for the summer months of photographing festivals - outside events, park hangouts, and rollerblading injuries (I fall, a lot).
This spring I got the opportunity work with Timberland to style and model their new shoe collection - which combines the comfort of your typical Timb and pairs it with a feminine twist. Personally I think I'd pair these babies with cool cargo trousers and ultra streetstyle vibes - since getting tattoo's, mixing feminine and urban elements has become my dream combo.
This campaign focuses on the hashtag #DontCallMe Mainstream. A hashtag sits close to my heart. I'm sure, like everyone at some point, I felt like a pretty lonely teen sometimes - which forced me experience things outside of mainstream conventions. Because I moved countriesso often as a kid, and attended so many different international schools - I often was pushed to find my own way, extend my boundaries and figure out ways to intergrate, but also individualise myself in a highly individualised group. There's nothing wrong with following things that are more mainstream, they're mainstream for a reason, right? But I don't think it's something that you should strive for. Striving to invent, inspire and do something just that teeny bit different is what's allowed us to thrive as communities and learn from one another. And there always is something to learn. We're not talking that you need to be ground breaking either, copy, borrow, and make it your own. Don't follow the mainstream - explore what makes you tick and try and mix it all up in your creativity, or whatever outlet you desire, to make your mark.
Here's a little backstage peek at the shoot, the final images and video(s) that are being shown at Amsterdam, Utrecht and Rotterdam central stations. Maybe you've even seen me pop up in your sponsored insta feed?
